Davis is General Counsel at NFX, and is an experienced attorney in the venture capital space. Prior to joining NFX, Davis was a member of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe's Technology Companies Group, where he represented both companies and investors, negotiating early, mid-, and late-stage venture capital financings, assisting companies with liquidity events, navigating securities law and regulatory issues, and advising companies on day-to-day corporate law matters.

As an attorney with a math background, Davis specialized in modeling complex financings and acquisitions in Excel during his time at Orrick, standardizing the firm's modeling forms and training numerous attorneys in their use.‍

Prior to entering law, Davis was an academic, receiving his Ph.D in mathematics from the University of Washington (with a focus on algebraic geometry) and spending several years as a professor at Seattle University.
