Here, at NFX Capital Management, LLC (“NFX,” “we,” “our”), our goal is to transform how true innovators are funded. As founders ourselves, we believe building software to help founders is the best way to do it. In order to help you with that, we collect, use, and share information about you to help accomplish those goal sand to help us provide better services to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information through our websites and other online products and services including Signal and BriefLink that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”) or when you otherwise interact with us.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy and, in some cases, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to our homepage or sending you a notification). We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the choices available to you.

Collection of Information
When you use our Services, we primarily collect information from you that we need to provide the Services to you and to help us improve the ways we provide those Services to you, and only in a couple of ways: We collect information that you provide directly to us, information about the ways you use our Services (to help us understand how to improve things), and information about you that we get from other sources such as other founders.

Information You Provide to Us
In order to use our Services, we will need some information from you to get you started. For instance, when you create an account, we ask you to provide information such as your full name and email address. Optionally, you might also choose to share with us some information about your company, such as your company’s name, sector, stage, description, and date of founding in order to better help other founders and investors learn about what you are working on, but that is totally your choice. There are a few other instances where we collect information from you too, such as when you participate in any interactive features of the Services, fill out a form on one of our websites, use the Service, post User Content (as defined in our Terms of Use), interact with other users of the Service through communication or messaging features, send us customer service-related requests, communicate with us via third party social media sites, or otherwise communicate with us.

Information About Your Use of the Services
Usage Information
As we mentioned above, we also collect information about the ways you use our Services, such as the types of connections you make, and the strength of those relationships, and how you generally use the Services. We do this in order to make improvements to the Services and also to help you assess the strength of your relationships in your network and figure out how best to make that network work for you.

Usage Information – Online Identifiers and Tracking
As we mentioned above, we collect some information about how you use our Services and to do that, we often collect online identifiers (cookies, web beacons, log information, etc.) that help understand how you use the Services on a technical level.

We use different technologies to collect information, including cookies and web beacons. Cookies help us improve our Services and your experience, see which areas and features of our Services are popular, and track limited activities on the Services to help you in case you have a website issue and need support. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, please see the “Your Choices” section below.

Information We Collect from Other Sources
We sometimes obtain information about you that we get from other sources and combine that with information we collect about you through our Services (like we described above). For example, we may collect information about you from third parties, including but not limited to, other users when they submit your name to the Services as a potential investor, or when they invite you to join our Services, or from publicly available sources. In addition, solely at your discretion, you might also have the option to access or register for the Service through the use of your user name and passwords for certain services provided by third parties (each, an “Integrated Service”), such as through the use of your Google credentials through OAuth, or otherwise have the option to authorize an integrated service to provide personal information or other information to us.

Just to make sure you understand what that means, by authorizing us to connect with an integrated service, you will be giving us the ability to access and store your name, email address(es), profile picture (if applicable), URL, email header information, and other information that the integrated service makes available to us. Any information we get from one of these services that you integrate with us will be used and disclosed based on this Policy. You should check your privacy settings on each integrated service to understand and change the information sent to us through each integrated service. Please review each integrated service’s terms of use and privacy policies carefully before using their services and connecting to our Service.

Google OAuth:
When you create a new account to use the Services you have the option of signing in with your Google credentials and also integrating aspects of your email metadata with your account. We will ask for your consent to connect your Google account to your Signal account. This step is optional, but Signal is most helpful in uncovering your strongest VC contacts with this information. Startup fundraising, just like any other sales process, is driven by relationships. Signal helps you uncover your fundraising contacts.

When you connect your Google account with Signal, we will have access to certain information such as the email meta headers (sender, recipient, and date) (“Google Data”) but we will not have access to the email message body or subject line.

We only process Google Data you make available to us through this integration in order to provide the Service to you and to improve the Services, consistent with Google’s Limited Use Requirements. We do not independently access the Google Data ourselves unless we first obtain your consent to view the Google Data (e.g., to provide you with tech support), we need to do so for internal security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or where the data is fully aggregated and anonymized for internal use purposes and cannot be used to identify you or your email recipients.

In addition, we will only transfer the Google Data to others if necessary to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the Services, to comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We also do not use Google Data for advertising purposes.

At any time, you can disconnect your Google account and delete this data in your Account Settings.
